About Me

          If you are not an Indian, you may get confused when I say I am an Indian because of the way I look, so you deserve an explanation. I will be very brief. When the country India got its independence in the year 1947, from the British, the first Prime Minister of India, Jawaharlal Nehru decided not to give “The Naga” its own independence and included it in the newly formed country. Today, it’s popularly known as the “Seven Sisters” because it consists of seven states which are located in the North East frontier bordering China and Burma. Naga's are basically tribal whose ancestry trace back to the Mongolia and China, who were once involved in headhunting during the inter tribe wars. So you may find it shocking that today there are 43 tribes of the Naga’s, every tribe speaking a completely different local dialect. I belong to Mao Naga tribe, but there is no reason for you to be scared of me, because tracing back three generations, my ancestors have not been involved in headhunting. So you are safe. Now you know; I am an Indian and a Naga. If you want know more about the Naga’s, you may want to read the book " Out of Isolation - Exploring a Forgotten World " by Frans Welman.

           I am a math graduate. Well, I guess that makes me professionally, a not professionally trained artist. And the place where I come from, art is like finding an oasis in the largest desert. I haven’t found one. So, when I decided to quite my day job to pursue art, I am sure my mom must have felt the most insecure mom in the world. Yes, when I graduated with mathematics from one of the top math colleges in India, I got some job offers and I did join one of them to quit after a year. But on the brighter side, if I make a name of myself, then maybe I would be the first Naga artist you will meet and not a Doctor or an Engineer. Yes, I was raised to either become a Doctor or an Engineer. Wow!!! That’s tempting but not for me. For me, my inspirations are colors in randomness and everything. Universe, dreams, nature, people, places etc. I tried to capture the story of my life experiences and also of others. And sometimes, just random thoughts and moods. So far in my journey, I have rather remained a low profile, associating with only some charitable organizations in their various fund raising campaigns, exhibiting my works to raise funds for underprivileged children for a better life, maybe even just for a day. Now with three exhibitions at personal level, a front cover page for North East Sun Magazine, a national TV telecast, coverage by two National Daily newspapers (The Hindustan Times and The Asian Age) and some few local newspapers and a live painting in front of some over one thousand people, now I am ready to trace my own path in the world of art.

          Last word; “My dreams are coming back to haunt me, and I am on my journey to de-haunt them. A math graduate who ended up as an artist and wants to become a writer. I have a stupid obsession for Vampires, Spaces (Universe) and Aurora Borealis (Northern Lights). Well that's me and I don't know if I could find my world, my dreams, my future and my salvation, but for now, within my strokes I'm living.”
