MY PAINTINGS FOR RANDOM LIVES AND NORTH EAST INDIA (A group show)

Here are some of my paintings that were being exhibited recently in a group show by A Zhoniu Pfozhe, Jithuw Pfuzeh and Cynthia Kolakhe at Nagaland House, New Delhi, India. Hope you will like it.

Title: Flower of Dreams
Medium: Oil on Canvas
Size: 49x36 Inches

Its must have been like two months, I have been dreaming about colors. Shades of all colors playing, though I can't exactly figure out what it was, as it did not have a definite shape and thus born the "Flower Of Dreams." It's oil on canvas and as in dreams it doesn't have a clear defined shape. Of course the flowers  in the painting is not what I dreamed off, but all my consciousness could bring out was a flower (which is one of my muse) to associate with dreams.

The painting in itself has no definite meaning as like in a dream. No specific flower, no specific colors, no specific flow. Just flow of colors to match up with my dream. It's just my interpretation of my dreams on canvas before it fades away from my memory. I did tweet and facebook about it many times but i guess putting down on a canvas was something else altogether. Join me in my dream and I hope it turns out as everyone's dream too.

Title:  The Story of Salvation
Medium:   Oil on Canvas
Size: 36x46 Inches

This painting is the depiction of the life and death of Jesus Christ and the ultimate sacrifice. Salvation from sin.
An abstract painting (Oil on Canvas) of the face of Jesus depicting the life of Jesus Christ, black background depicting the sins of mankind and evil and finally, the touch of  red pointed towards the eyes which is a representation of the blood of Jesus Christ shed when he was crucified on the cross.

The painting shows a troubled Jesus as he already knew his death, which is depicted by the touch of red which is pointed towards his eyes. "Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done." Luke 22:42.

Rather a simple painting abstract painting but carries the story of the life of Jesus Christ on Earth and his ultimate sacrifice for mankind.

Title:  Black and White
Medium:  Acrylic On Canvas
Size: 36x24 Inches

Black and White was the color in those days when i was a kid. My mom and dad looks amazing in black and white in the old family frame. And Marilyn Monroe became a legend in those days. I guess everyone (at least most of us) childhood where spend when the pictures printed were in black and white. Now, when I trace back those wonderful time of memories, it takes me through the path of black and white. Nostalgic feelings, oh god! I still wanted to go back in those times if I could.

The painting describe my mood as a childhood and till now, reluctant to be photographed, so its a moody painting of a lady in black and white. The model is traces left in me while going through a magazine, must be a long time back, that had inspired me the moment I saw it. I knew I was painting something like that one day. So, here it is.

Black and White still lingers somewhere unknown in me.

Title:  The Lady with the Piano
Medium:  Acrylic on Canvas
Size: 36x24 Inches
Not For Sale

This one is a representation of the modern world we live in today. Confusion, chaos, frustration etc. among the suppose to be a perfect world virtually. Virtually we think the world today should be a perfect place with perfect rhythm because of all the convenience surrounded us. Globalization, connectivity, social order, education etc. Perfect lines at the backgrounds depicts it. But when it comes to reality, we are more disturbed, confused, frustrated and restless. That's being depicted by the crisscross overlaying above the perfect lines.

I guess the world today has turned into more of feminist. That's the touch of Pink I use. And of course, an abstract figure of a lady playing a piano, which one has to observe to see it, depicts the present world where music is everywhere. Everyone wants to be a pop or a rock star or at least in their way of dressing. I just hope we don't get lost of our won identity in the process.

Title: Naga's Dream
Medium: Acrylic on Canvas
Size: 30x24 Inches
Not For Sale

These one is a painting of my culture and my people, the Naga. As I paint more of dreams and fantasies, this one is also a work with dreams. Its a painting of a person dreaming about the Naga's and their traditions. But the time of the dreams is taken out at such point of a time in dream when the person dreaming is just about to wake up from his dream, So, its a depiction between consciousness and sub-consciousness.

Every object painted in half. Human skull cut off during headhunting wars, shield, cow head, a traditional women guitar, a crafted wooden piece use to decorate on top of the house and also to symbolize status, crisscross depicting in dream and finally the face of the person dreaming the dream. Yes I am a Naga from Manipur. There has been a lot of question on this regard and I will answer that question very soon. Till then I am a Naga from Manipur, do you have a problem?

Title:  The Meteor
Medium:  Oil on Canvas
Size: 30x24 Inches

This painting is my first attempt at painting cosmic objects which has always been a fantasy and mystery to me throughout my childhood  and still is. Oil on Canvas, The Meteor as you can it yourself, is a view of a meteor in the night sky with a backdrop of a planet.
It took me sometime to complete this painting as it was my first attempt and I frankly didn't know how to paint it so that it looks exactly the same way I thought of as meteors when I was a kid. I guess, I should have take a glimpses from the internet for reference, it would have been much easier that way. Anyway, I am very much satisfied on how it turn out at the end.

This one is for my love for spaces. Soon it will follow with a series, I pray for that. A series of heavenly objects in the universe and mysterious black hole. I am excited.

Title: The Lady at the Bar
Medium: Oil on Canvas
Size: 30x24 Inches

This one was not complete for me but the buyer says, "Its complete for me. This is just the way i like it". Its sold.

It was a representation of the many reason why a person would go to a bar. Maybe because, he/she is sad. Maybe he/she want to just relax. Or maybe many other reasons.

Well, that's it. The mood i wanted to finished is not finished, Maybe that's the beauty. But you can still see the different mood and personality in the lady in the painting.

MY FIRST SHOW FOR CHARITY

I did my first show in association with "The Tent" (A unit under Touch Trust India) for their fund raising campaign to help and uplift under-privileged children find a better world to live in. I put up two of my paintings and major portion of the sale donated for their goodwill mission. This was my first try at water color as a medium of painting. Here are my two paintings.

 Title:  Agony Hand.
 Medium:  Water Color on Paper.

Agony hand describes the story of the clashes of the rich and poor within the character of a human holding a cigarette. Its a painting of a malnourished man depicting the poor class in the society, holding a cigarette which a the part of the rich in the society and the background of blue and brown depicts the confusion, clashes, and imbalance in the world we live in.

Title:  A life in a Day
Medium:  Water Color on Paper.

A Life in a Day tells the story of a modern person's life capture within a day. Its a construction of geometrical figures as a backdrop of a room and skyscrapers where we have everything we need but still not satisfied with our own lives. We are lost, we seek identity but it still elude us.

It depicts the pain of a person sitting inside a room surrounded by all the lush of a modernity but still the gloom of lost and confusion that followed us in every direction we turn. But hope still remains and we seek with this hope. I hope everyone finds it.
